They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So is weather. The temperature was 60 degrees when I began my bike ride this morning. I thought I was going to become a bICEcycle (That’s a Dad Joke for those who have never seen one). I write this knowing that my northern friends will think I’m wimpy. There is a guy I know in Iowa who won’t put on long pants until the temperature dips below zero. All of this proves my point—everything is in the eye of the beholder.
In Ephesians 1:18-19, Paul prays that “the eyes of your hearts [may be] enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe.” (ESV) Because our eyes so often see things differently, Paul asked God to let us use His eyes. God’s eye always sees beauty. In His eye, the weather is always perfect. In His eye, there is always hope, purpose, and power.
The eye will see what it is prepared to see. I pray that today yours will see God.
