A friend made a profound comment to me recently. He said that sin can be fun, but that ultimately this kind of joy is no joy at all because it is anchored in hopelessness. Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die only works for a short time.
What brings you joy? Is it something that will end in realized hope? Or will it hit the dead end of hopelessness? Many today justify sin by claiming, “God wants me to be happy.” He does, but not with the wrong kind of happiness—the kind that is so fleeting. He wants you to know the happiness of a life that leads to glory.
