I thought that I was going to attend college in Iowa, return home to California, work as an actuary for a large insurance company, make lots of money, and live a comfortable life. However, during my freshman year, I met a group of students who showed me that living as a Christian meant giving God my entire life. I struggled with this because I had never really thought about God being in charge of my career. But I was convinced and decided that I would now be God’s businessman. The problem was that I had no idea what it meant to be “God’s businessman.” I decided to pray about it. Every morning I would go to a small chapel connected to the philosophy department and ask God to tell me how to be His businessman. Day after day I prayed the same prayer and heard no answer until, one day, I got so frustrated that I began yelling at God. “If you don’t tell me what it means to be your businessman,” I threatened, “then you’re going to lose your businessman!”
Surprisingly, God didn’t care.
A few days later, I was talking to a friend who was sharing how she and her husband had chosen to live a simpler lifestyle. I listened until I could stand it no longer and blurted, “Well what do you want me to do about it, change my major!” She gave me a curious look and said, “I didn’t know that was bothering you.” I had to admit that it was. The next day I changed my major, my purpose, and my life.
Sometimes God speaks loudly, and sometimes he speaks without saying anything. What is he saying to you this week?
God is reminding me that HE is a loving Heavenly Father, who loves to give good gifts to the people who believe Jesus
Is their Saviour 💕
