Sometimes I find the strongest faith in the people who have the greatest reasons not to believe. Take Abraham, for example. He continued to believe God’s promise of children long after any reasonable person would have given up hope. Romans 4:19 says, “He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb.” I would probably have given up by age 90.
For some, faith lasts only as long as it is “reasonable” to believe. Others cling more tightly to God and his promises with each complication. Which are you?
Romans 4:20 reveals a secret to Abraham’s unreasonable faith. It says, “No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God.”
What if I were to replace doubt with worship? If I were like Abraham, I would find my faith growing every time I gave glory to God.
